Leveling With The Gods Wiki

The Outer Gods are beings that reside in the Outer Realm outside of the Tower. They are beings of great power, capable of destroying Tower at their full potential.

Overview[]

There definitely were a lot of beings inside the tower that called themselves gods. The “Big Three” gods of Olympus, Odin and Thor of Asgard, The “Three Precious Children.” They all called themselves gods and showed off abilities worthy of that title. However, not one of them could truly be called a god. The Outer Gods were 'Gods' in the truest sense.[1]

Most of the Rankers that fought against the Outer Gods died, and only a minority were able to survive. It wasn’t a fight they could win. That was the conclusion everyone came to.

Origin[]

As is the case with the majority of the characters in the story, the Outer Gods are very likely to be inspired by other mythology. In this case, it is likely H.P. Lovecraft's Outer Gods. The two groups are similar in their naming as well as the fact that they are the 'big bad' of their respective universes.

It has been alluded that the power of the outer gods comes from the emotions of the inner gods (tower inhabitants), as can be seen with the Divine Flame, and that even a single Outer is many times stronger than an inner. In the battle aginst 'Foolish Chaos' before Yuwon regressed, the amount of high rankers who died was so much that they had to resort to sending Yuwon back in time. At this point in the manhwa, it appears the the only character who has any knowledge about the Outer Gods is Yuwon himself.

Items/Abilities related to the Outer Gods:

Kim Yuwon[]

The Outsiders, the beings outside the Tower, outside the conglomeration of worlds. Their greatest fear was when they failed to 'understand' something. It was the same with YuWon.

They had fought countless times, for so long, and he still hadn't understood them. However, that did not frighten him. Not worthy of fear.

YuWon had lost too much, the experiences he had been through were not easy. 'Just a bigger fish than normal.'[2]

Trivia[]

  • When the rankers of the Tower were deciding who to send back in time to defeat the outers, they had narrowed it down to three candidates. The hero of the Gigantomachy, Hercules. The High-Ranker called “The Great Sage, Heaven’s Equal” as well as “Victorious Fighting Buddha,” Son OhGong. And the High-Ranker that appeared out of nowhere without any achievements or stories about him, Kim YuWon. The one who was selected after the meeting concluded was YuWon. If they were sending someone back to fight against the Outer Gods, they needed to send the one who had killed the highest number of them. The tasks that needed to be done after going back in time were already clarified, and so the meeting ended like that.
